With one project after another and a packed filming schedule, Yu Shuxin’s life is filled with non-stop work. Yet, she devotes 100% of her effort to every role, bringing vibrant and diverse characters to the audience. Outside of work, Yu Shuxin is also a fashion trendsetter. Her Weibo is full of youthful energy and a girlish charm. She finds joy in the little moments of life and embraces each new day with readiness. She said that every “today is better than yesterday.”

Q & A

Q: What kind of role did you play in Find Yourself (The Love Lasts Two Minds)?
A: I played a sweet, innocent, and romantic female college student.

Q: What qualities do you think a girl needs to maintain a sense of youthful femininity?
A: I think it’s all about mindset. Don’t dwell on gloomy thoughts all day, and don’t go around with a frown. Most importantly, don’t blindly follow others without your own opinions or insights. Be positive—be the little sunshine in the lives of those around you.

Q: The recently filmed I’ve Fallen For You is a new project—what kind of story is it, and what role do you play in it?
A: This was my first time playing the female lead in a historical drama, so it was a big challenge for me. I won’t give away too many details just yet, but my character is quirky, adorably silly, and super sweet!

Q: What do you think is the biggest difference between acting in historical dramas and modern dramas? Which do you personally prefer?
A: They’re very different experiences. The biggest difference is that in modern dramas, I can bring and style my own favorite outfits on set. I feel very happy thinking about the styling every day. But in historical dramas, the styling is much more restricted—and wearing those heavy headpieces every day… So I really prefer modern dramas.

Q: Do you have any personal tips for staying cool while filming historical dramas in the summer?
A: I go through over a dozen bottles of sunscreen a month—I just keep applying and never get lazy about it. I also prepare things like sun umbrellas and whitening supplements to help protect my skin.

Q: What type of drama or character would you like to take on next?
A: I hope to take on roles that truly suit my personality and strengths—ones that can help me elevate my acting to the next level.

Q: What do you think is the best and not-so-good part of your personality?
A: The best part is that I’m straightforward—and the not-so-good part is also that I’m straightforward. Sometimes it might offend people, but that’s just the real me.

Q: Are you a foodie in real life? How do you balance your love for food with maintaining your figure?
A: I’m definitely a foodie—I absolutely love eating all kinds of delicious food! When it comes to staying in shape, I usually let myself enjoy food freely, then do focused dieting when needed.

Q: How would you describe your everyday fashion style?
A: I actually have a lot of personal outfits, and I love experimenting with different styles. You can check out my outfit updates on Weibo—bright and colorful looks suit me best!

Q: 2019 is already halfway through—are you satisfied with yourself so far this year? Any regrets?
A: The first half of the year was filled with nonstop promotions, and from now until the Spring Festival, I’ll be filming in Hengdian. My biggest regret is not being able to spend much time with my parents. I’m hoping my manager can help arrange a two-week family trip—I really want to spend more time with them.

Q: What are your short-term or long-term goals and dreams?
A: Just to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday. ^_^
