Tracing back from Youth With You 2 to Grade One: Graduation Season, Xinxinzi hasn’t changed much—inside or out—across her two major variety show appearances. The only difference the second time around? She came with even greater energy—and rose to become one of the most recognized new-generation idols in the country.

The overwhelming wave of public opinion came crashing in like a beast—but for Xinxin, it wasn’t a flood. To her, it felt more like a warm tide.

“Honestly, I haven’t seen much negativity. It feels like most of the comments online are actually praise.” (laughs)

Q: From solo activities to group promotions, what do you feel is the biggest difference?
A: When it’s a solo activity, everyone focuses on you alone. But in group activities, the focus is spread across all nine of us.

Q: People have always known you to have a bold personality since you were young. Looking back—whether it’s during your school years or after starting your career—was there ever a moment or decision you regretted, something you thought, “Maybe I shouldn’t have done that”?
A: I’ve honestly never regretted any of my past choices—otherwise, I wouldn’t be who I am today. Every step brought me to where I am now, and I think I’m doing pretty great! (laughs)

Q: You’ve been trending on social media quite a lot lately. Which trending topic did you find the funniest?
A: The funniest one has to be the “auxiliary breast” (often referring to armpit fat or skin folds in internet slang or styling mishaps). incident! I totally didn’t expect that. I was just having a normal conversation with someone—hahaha!

Q: Between acting, singing and dancing, and variety shows — which direction will your future work focus on?
A: I hope to focus on both acting and singing/dancing. I want to keep working hard in both areas.

Q: You showed a very different side of yourself in No Day Off Carnival. How competitive are you when it comes to games? Would you say you’re a gaming pro or totally clueless?
A: I honestly don’t have much of a competitive streak. I’m a very chill person—people might not believe it because I come off as super energetic, but I always try to keep myself in a happy state of mind. I just go with the flow and don’t want to tire myself out. If I do well in a game, great. If not, that’s fine too. I’m definitely more of a game noob—only in a few games am I actually any good. Since I’m not that competitive, I don’t go all-in on any one game, and I end up being kind of clueless most of the time.

Q: You recently tried runway modeling for the first time and received tons of praise—people found it adorable! Would you consider doing a more traditional, high-fashion catwalk next?
A: I’m not really into super formal runway shows. I prefer my own walk—a bit more playful and fun. I’d love for more brands to invite me to walk for them, though! I think I look pretty good on the catwalk. At home, I even love playing dress-up and having little fashion parties for fun.

Q: What do you think is the ideal relationship between fans and their idol?
A: I think the ideal relationship is one where both sides grow together—supporting each other and becoming each other’s source of strength.

Q: You recently took on the role of a mentor in Dimension Nova. What was that experience like? Any advice you’d give to the contestants?
A: At first, I was totally lost—I didn’t really know what I was supposed to do, since I wasn’t very familiar with that kind of format. I wouldn’t even call myself a mentor—more like a connection builder. I felt like I was learning and growing alongside the contestants, thinking things through with them. Most of the time, we were giving each other feedback, helping to fill in gaps, and improving together.
